Designer Spotlight: Eric Olsen Design

18 Jun

Good morning! Today I am introducing you to Orange County interior designer and architect Eric Olsen. Eric Olsen Design was founded in 2001 as a custom residential design and architecture firm. These spaces all have a comfortable California vibe which I am drawn to. I love his designs are all very relatable, not over done or over designed.

What do you think? I really love the mix of materials in each space. My favorite is the kitchen in image 6. The large pendants, beams and white cabinetry are a perfect combination. I really love all the outdoor spaces as well. They are all dreamy. Which is your favorite? To see more of Eric Olsen’s designs check out his website.

Fall Decor

22 Oct

Good morning! There are two trends I have noticed for a while and both are perfect for Fall. Wood/ faux bois and horn decor. Both these trends scream Fall to me and they are perfect for bringing Fall into your home in a new and modern way.

Faux Bois Pillow | Wood Candleholders | Wooden Jar | Frame | Molten Wood Napkin Rings | Twig Flatware | Serving Boards

Although I wouldn’t suggest using all these items, adding in a few wood items can really warm up your space.

Natural Horn Boxes | Horn Round Mirror | Brass Embossed Horns | Magnifier | Horn Servers | Horn Jar | Burnished Horn Bowls

Aren’t these horn accessories beautiful? I love the variety of color and textures you can find.

What do you think?

Warm Cozy Spaces

With the weather getting cooler out it makes me want to curl up in a warm cozy space. Adding rich warm colors, layers of blankets, or cozy fabrics will make your home cold weather ready. Take a look at these super cozy spaces.

The layers in this bedroom make is feel really cozy. The wool drapery and upholstered headboard add the perfect masculine touch. I love the color of the walls next to that gold mirror. This is such a warm space.

Cozy Fireplaces

2 Nov

What’s better than curling up next to fireplace on a cool fall night? I love fireplaces. They add a great focal point and character to spaces. There are so many different styles. I also love a great styled mantle. The fireplaces I am going to show you vary in color, size, and style. Let me know which one your favorite! Take a look.

How beautiful is this fireplace? The dramatic black lacquered finish is fabulous! I am in love with the mirror above the mantle. It adds extra height and drama. The flowers across the mantle also add such a great punch of color.

This is a gorgeous focal point. The dark aqua walls accented with the gold accessories and bright white mantle is the perfect combination.

The mix of brick and white mantle is so warm. Brick is such a beautiful choice for a fireplace. This space is designed by Steven Gambrel is so cozy.

I love this muted tone on the fireplace and woodwork. The beautiful moldings add depth and character to this space.

I love how the dark grey behind the fireplace makes the mantle POP! I love the wood storage on either side.

This is chic mantle. The silver candle sticks and mirror add some sparkle. The large mantle really makes a statement it’s fab!

This fireplace is beautiful. The marble surround is so pretty. The details in the woodwork on the mantle really makes this fireplace special. The colors in this space are so warm and cozy.

How do you feel about this modern fireplace? I love the warm stone in front of it and the sleek lines.

When I ran across this rustic mid-century modern home on Style at Home I knew I had to share! This space clearly proves you do not need a ton of color to have an exciting space. The different materials, fabrics, and interesting objects create a beautifully warm and cohesive home. I love this style and the coziness that just oozes from every corner of this home. Take a look!

What is your favorite part? If I had to choose I would have to say the beautiful nook with the settee is fabulous! I love the starburst and dramatic color. This whole home is great though. The wood tones are gorgeous and the mix of fabrics add a great modern touch.

Rustic Barn Inspired Homes

9 Oct

Hope you all had a great weekend! Sorry I missed you yesterday I was out of town. Anyways, this time of year when the weather is starting to cool off I think of warm cozy spaces. Barn style homes always seem to have that warm rustic quality that seems cozy and perfect for those cool fall days and nights. Take a look at some great examples of this style.

The flagstone fireplace and all the wood finishes really creates a cozy warm space. This dining room is inviting and has a rustic yet modern feel.

The mix of brick and wood definitely creates a rustic feel. The glass ceiling really keeps this space light and bright.

The plaid and leather fabrics against the wood creates a rustic cozy space. I love the chandelier adding the perfect finishing rustic touch.

First and foremost can we just take a look at those windows?? Oh my. Stunning. The oak ceiling is gorgeous as well.

I love this barn style home. The walls of windows are gorgeous.

Here is the living area from the barn shown above. This space is warm and cozy. The use of wood really creates the rustic barn feel.

Look at that ficus! This really brings the outdoors in. The gorgeous ceiling and stone floors create the perfect anchors for this space.

Not the typical rustic space this all white living room still feels cozy. The amazing windows really bring the outdoors in and the fireplace is a great focal point.

This is definitely rustic bathroom right? The use of the same shades of wood creates a cozy space.

This last space is a perfect barn dining space. The wood paneling, leather banquette, and metal chairs all add to that warm rustic feel.

What do you think? Does fall weather make you want a cozy rustic space to curl up?
