Tartan Card Case– Perfect for the businessman.

Original Penguin Socks– My husband loves colored socks. I think they add a little hidden flair.

Cashmere V-neck Sweater– This is perfect to make it through the rest of Winter. Can’t go wrong with cashmere right?

Fashion Friday: Valentine’s Day

7 Feb

Happy Friday! First of all today is the 2 year anniversary of The Suite Life Designs! I can’t believe it! I actually forgot, but wordpress reminded me. I want to take a moment to thank all of you for following along this journey. I love all your comments and likes. I hope to expand and revamp the blog to make it even better over the next year.

Valentine’s Day is a week away so I thought I would pull together a few outfit inspirations for you. To be quite honest my husband and I don’t do too much for Valentine’s Day which is fine by me. We change it up between me making a nice dinner at home and going out somewhere special. I am a casual kind of gal. I like to get dressed up every once in a while, but I much prefer to wear jeans and a nice top to a dress and heels. The outfits I have pulled together range from casual to dressy all of which are great for Valentine’s Day at home to a fancy night out.

Top | Jeans | Earrings | Ring | Flats | Bag

Top | Clutch | Pants | Flower Necklace | Jacket | Lipstick | Booties | Bracelets

Dress | Pumps | Necklace | Clutch | Lipgloss | Stacked Rings | Nail Polish

Do any of these fit your style? I happen to like them all, but I would most likely wear the first two. The last one is what I feel like I’d wear when I “grow up”. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Valentine’s Day my loves! Hope you all have a love filled day planned with your significant other or friends. My husband and I are having low key V-Day this evening because we are having a little getaway to San Francisco this weekend. Very excited! I thought I would share some of my favorite Valentine’s Day ideas from my Pinterest board and a yummy cupcake recipe you can make to celebrate. Enjoy!

Strawberry cupcakes

Sprinkles’ Strawberry Cupcakes

This yummy recipe is courtesy of Candace Nelson owner and creator of Sprinkles Cupcakes

  • 2/3 cup whole fresh or frozen strawberries, thawed
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1/4 cup whole milk, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 2 large egg whites, room temperature

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners; set aside.
  2. Place strawberries in a small food processor; process until pureed. You should have about 1/3 cup of puree, add a few more strawberries if necessary or save any extra puree for frosting; set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. In a small bowl, mix together milk, vanilla, and strawberry puree; set aside.
  4. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter on medium-high speed, until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar and continue to beat until well combined and fluffy. Reduce the mixer speed to medium and slowly add egg and egg whites until just blended.
  5. With the mixer on low, slowly add half the flour mixture; mix until just blended. Add the milk mixture; mix until just blended. Slowly add remaining flour mixture, scraping down sides of the bowl with a spatula, as necessary, until just blended.
  6. Divide batter evenly among prepared muffin cups. Transfer muffin tin to oven and bake until tops are just dry to the touch, 22 to 25 minutes. Transfer muffin tin to a wire rack and let cupcakes cool completely in tin before icing.

Strawberry Frosting

  • 1/2 cup whole frozen strawberries, thawed
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, firm and slightly cold
  • Pinch of coarse salt
  • 3 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  1. Place strawberries in the bowl of a small food processor; process until pureed. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together butter and salt on medium speed until light and fluffy. Reduce mixer speed and slowly add confectioners’ sugar; beat until well combined. Add vanilla and 3 tablespoons strawberry puree (save any remaining strawberry puree for another use); mix until just blended. Do not overmix or frosting will incorporate too much air. Frosting consistency should be dense and creamy, like ice cream.
Don’t those cupcakes sound yummy?? Hope you all have a beautiful Valentine’s Day!
