Home Tour: Carole Radziwill’s SoHo Apartment

29 Jul

Good morning! As I have admitted before I am a big Housewives fan. Well anything on Bravo really, but I particularly love my housewives. If any of you watch the New York Housewives you may have seen Carole Radziwill’s beautiful SoHo apartment renovation. She worked with designer Wayman Robertson on this project. The apartment is the perfect representation of Carole’s sassy, strong, and stylish personality. The one piece of furniture that stands out in this space is her sofa she was lucky enough to inherit from her mother-in-law Lee Radziwill that is covered in a tiger velvet.

Above the Headboard

16 Oct

Good morning! As much as I love a dramatic tall headboard I think I may love a headboard with something fabulous above it even more. Whether it be art, a mirror, or a gallery of frames. Adding something above the headboard adds height and a larger focal point in the bedroom. Take a look at what I mean.

Pretty right? I love all of these images for different reasons. I like the simplicity of hanging one or two items above the headboard, but having multiple frames or mirrors is also really nice and interesting. Do any of you hang anything above your headboard?

Tips for Mixing Metals

15 Oct

Good morning! Mixing metals is one of my favorite design elements. There used to be design rules against mixing any sort of metals. You had to stick to one finish and color. Well not anymore! Mixing metals is one of the best ways to create a collected look. I always think it is important to look like you have gathered pieces over time rather than buying them all at the same store on the same day.

Mixing the gold leafed mirror with collected silver pieces brightens up this sideboard. Multiples is important when mixing metals. If you have one silver piece, but multiple brass items it will seem unbalanced.

Mixing metals creates a more sophisticated space. Do you or would you mix metals in your home? My personal favorite is mixing brass and silver pieces. I have a collection of silver items I have gathered over the years that I have began mixing in with newer brass/gold pieces. They go together really well.

Bar Cart Reveal

30 Sep

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! I finally found my perfect bar cart from Target. You may remember it from my obsessions list. It is just the right size and color for my living room. An added bonus it was under $200! I pulled together items old and new to style it perfectly. I love the fact that this cart can evolve and change depending on what’s on it. Hope you all like it!

I’m in LOVE! I painted that canvas hanging above the cart. I will show you more details tomorrow.

I love our Mr. and Mrs. Rocks glasses from Furbish Studio! The tray they are sitting on was another craft project. I took a bare wood tray from Michael’s painted the edges gold and covered the surface with paper from Paper Source. I put a lacquered finish over it to protect from spills.

bar cart2I think it is important to have not only alcoholic options on the bar cart. There is something for everyone. I also liked adding books to break things up and add some height.

A special thanks goes to my friend Jen for the use of her snazzy camera to get these crisp shots.

Molly and her husband have collected a lot of items throughout the years and wanted those pieces to be incorporated into their home. The home is mainly neutral with pops of colors in the accents. I think you will all love this modern and relaxed home. Take a look!

I love the mix of traditional and modern elements in all of these designs. If I had to choose my favorite spaces it would have to be the second to last image and the bedroom with the beautiful wallpaper. I love the use of modern area rugs against the more classic furniture. It is a great combination. Which is your favorite space?
