Monday Inspiration: Kitchens

3 Feb

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! Today I am getting inspired by beautiful kitchens. The kitchen is the heart of the home. Where everyone gathers. It also happens to be my favorite room in the house. I am sharing some of my favorites with you.

Favorite Design Trends

29 Jan

Good morning! Better Homes and Gardens has pulled together some of their favorite design trends. I have pulled my favorites from that list (and added some of my own). I hope these trends don’t fade out any time soon.

black glossy door

Black Glossy Front Door: This is timeless. There is something so classic about a shiny black front door don’t you think?

Flokati: This shaggy wool material is perfect for accent pieces such as these stools. Also perfect for pillows and rugs!

painted furniture

Painted Furniture: It is so easy to transform an old piece of furniture with paint. I love adding a pop of color to a space.

statement lighting

Statement Lighting: Good lighting is essential to every space. You can find beautiful statement fixtures in every price range. I am loving these brass pieces.

wallpaperWallpaper: Gone are the days of Grandma’s wallpaper. Wallpaper is perfect for an accent wall or small space. No need to do all 4 walls. There are so many great modern colors and patterns.

warm graysWarm Grays: Warm grays are the perfect neutral alternative to beige or white.

wide stripesWide Stripes: This substantial pattern can easily be mixed with smaller scale patterns for a modern look.

What are some of your favorite design trends?

Contrasting Kitchen Cabinets

4 Jun

Every space should make a statement. In the kitchen one of the best (and my favorite) ways to make a statement is with contrasting kitchen cabinets. By doing this you still have a classic look, but with a fresh and modern twist. Take a look at these fabulous contrasting cabinets.

This kitchen uses the perfect shade of turquoise and white to freshen up this space while still keeping a classic feel.

Charcoal colored lower cabinets and white uppers create the perfect statement. Using the dark grout with the white subway tile really plays up the contrast.

gray and white

The gray island cabinets create a more subtle statement, but just as beautiful.

blue and white

I love these blue and white cabinets! It is amazing what some paint can do to totally transform a space.

I think this is my favorite kitchen. The black and white cabinets with the beautiful brass hardware makes a bold statement.

What do you think? Do you have contrasting cabinets or would you ever having them in your kitchen?

Home Tour: Mark and Cinda Boomershine

15 Apr

Did you all have a good weekend? Mine flew by! Today I am taking you on home tour of Mark and Cinda Boomershine’s Atlanta home. Mark is an artist and Cinda is a fashion accessories designer. This home is full of life and color. This 1920s home has formal architecture, but instead of letting the architecture dictate the design style the Boomershines juxtaposed it with their fearless and elegant design style.  I know you will enjoy the tour. Take a look!

Isn’t this home fun? I love the mix of traditional and modern details. I don’t think I could pick a favorite space. I truly love details from all of them. Which is your favorite?

Home Tour: Charming Cottage

20 Mar

Today I am taking you on a tour of a super charming cottage! Windows throughout the house allow for a steady stream of light to drench the home. This home is warm and cozy. The use of rustic elements mixed with clean and simple details is the perfect combination. Take a look!

This cottage is casual, warm, and inviting. What do you think of this home?

Home Tour: Peacful Bedroom Retreat

11 Mar

Happy Monday! Did everyone survive the time change? It always takes me a few days to get used to it. Today I am giving you a our of a beautiful peaceful bedroom courtesy of designer Sarah Richardson. Sarah creates a quiet refuge in a bustling family home by transforming a master bedroom into a private living space for work, rest and play. Take a look!

Add warmth to a bedroom with touches of dark wood.

Add a subtle hint of color on the ceiling.

Tuck a small desk in a nook for a home office.

Continue the same flooring into the bathroom for cohesive feel.

Isn’t this bedroom beautiful? This is the ultimate retreat.

Have a great day!!

Home Tour: Bethenny Frankel’s TriBeCa Loft

23 Jan

I have been a HUGE fan of Bethenny Frankel’s for so many years starting with season 1 of The Real Housewives of NYC. (One of my many guilty pleasures.) I then fell in love with her even more on her spinoff shows Bethenny Getting Married? and Bethenny Ever After. Watching this strong woman going after her dream and taking her idea and making it a reality is very inspiring. Watching her build her brand from the ground up has been amazing. She has become very successful with her Skinnygirl Cocktails and other Skinnygirl products. Not only is she a fab business mogul and reality TV star she is also a NY Times bestselling author of books such as Skinnydipping, Naturally Thin, A Place of Yes (and more). You can check out her books and other products here.

I saw part of her design process remodeling her 3,400 square foot TriBeCa Loft on her show Bethenny Ever After and I am so excited to show you images of her finished space. Bethenny worked with mother-daughter design duo Mariette Himes Gomez and Brooke Gomez. Her space is sophisticated with pops of color and personality. I love that Bethenny mixes high end furnishings and designer fabrics with pieces from Ikea, CB2, and Restoration Hardware. These choices create the perfect balance. Take a look at Bethenny’s beautiful loft!

living dining room

Bethenny had an inspiration notebook containing images of her dream apartment ideas starting from 15 years ago. This starbusrt chandelier was from that inspiration book and was a great starting point for this space.

living room

I love the pops of the red-orange color throughout her home. It also happens to be the signature color of her Skinnygirl Cocktails.

The beautiful neutral palette is so sophisticated and soothing.

missoni bike

How fun is the addition of this Missoni for Target bike? Love!

I LOVE this kitchen. The windows and white really make this space bright and airy. Love the cameo of Bethenny’s dog Cookie too!

This is where the magic happens. This office is so organized and clean. I could live in there. For sure.

bryn bedroom

Bethenny’s young daughter Bryn is one lucky girl! This pink bedroom is just too cute!

Bethenny’s master bedroom is the ultimate sanctuary. The muted gray tones and soft blues create a relaxing escape. Rose-patterned custom wallpaper designed by Ted Tyler adorns the walls.

I just about DIED when I saw this closet! I mean wow! Who wouldn’t want a closet like this?

Skinnygirl bejeweled clutch. So perfect!

master bath

Bethenny’s turquoise master bath is serene and spa-like. The vanity stone is so beautiful!

No Skinnygirl’s home would be complete without a bar right?

Isn’t her apartment beautiful? The details are gorgeous. When Bethenny was first on the Housewives we saw her in a 1 bedroom apartment now she is in this 3 bedroom beauty. I have enjoyed watching her inspiring journey and will continue to follow her success. Look out for her new daytime talk show in the fall!
