Pink has always been one of my favorite colors. What is better than a pink Christmas? There is something so whimsical and sorta glamorous about a pink Christmas. I have been seeing tons of wonderful inspiration floating around and thought I would share with you.

Do you love this fun splash of color? I think adding pink to Christmas decor is so fun and non-traditional. I know my husband would never agree to a pink tree, but they are so fun to look at! What do you think?

Beautiful Garland

17 Dec

I am obsessed with beautiful garland. There is something so classic and timeless about greenery. When I think of Christmas and wintertime one of the first images that pops into my mind is beautiful fresh garland. There are so many ways you can style garland which really makes it fun to see how everyone chooses to put their personal stamp on it. Here are some of my favorites.

Crafting Mini Christmas Trees

11 Dec

Good morning! I have another Christmas craft for you. One of my best friends and I got together and had a mini crafting party. It is so fun to sit around talking, drinking wine, and doing a fun project. These trees are the perfect accent to my holiday decor.

Mini Christmas TreesAren’t they pretty? I took cardboard cones you can find at any craft store. I covered one in beans, one in round paper circles, and one in metallic yarn. Please excuse the backgrounds in these pictures. Crafting can get messy!

I started by spray painting each cone. I sprayed 2 of them white and one gold.

IMG_1608

For the cone covered in yarn I glued the end of the yarn at the bottom then wrapped the yarn around pushing it down so it became fluffy.

IMG_1611

Then glue the end at the top when done. No need to glue any where else in between.

For the next cone I punched 1 inch circles out of cardstock. I then just glued the circles on with mod podge and overlapped the rows to create a scalloped look.

When done gluing I used some left over silver glitter paint to add some shine.

The last one I covered in beans. I was a little skeptical about how this would turn out. I like it though. It adds a little interest.

IMG_1619When done adhering the beans with hot glue I spray painted a few coats of white paint. Then I used some gold glitter paint to create an ombre effect.

DIY Mini Trees

What do you think? This is a fun craft that would be great for kids also. You can really get creative with what you choose to decorate the trees with. I like all three, but my favorite is the fluffy tree.

DIY: Wool Pom Pom Wreath

10 Dec

Good morning! I don’t know what has come over me this year, but I can’t stop crafting! My latest project is my best yet (I think). Have you all seen the fabulous Anthropologie tufted wool wreath? I love it, but it was around $300. No way would I ever spend that! I then saw a DIY version on Pinterest and thought I can do that. And I did! It turned out so fabulous! Here is the Anthropologie version:

Here is my version:

SLD Wreath

Want to see how I did it? I documented the steps for you. (Please forgive all the shadows. I took the pictures on my phone.)

Supplies:

4 bundles of yarn. Make sure it is thick and fluffy.

1 Styrofoam wreath form

Stick pins (or hot glue, but pins were super easy)

Ribbon of your choice

Scissors

IMG_0077

Step 1:

Wrap the yarn around 3 fingers (4 if you want fluffier pom poms) Wrap around 40 times.

IMG_1710

Step 2:

Gently slide bundle off fingers and cut another piece of yarn about 6-8 inches long.

IMG_1711

Step 3:

Wrap the long piece of yarn around the middle of your bundle. Make sure it is pretty tight so your pom pom won’t fall apart later.

IMG_1708

Step 4:

Take your scissors and insert them into one side of your bundle, then cut. Repeat on the other side.

IMG_0079

Trim all the extra long pieces and fluff the pom pom.

Repeat this process until you have enough to cover the wreath.

Step 5:

Start pinning the pom poms onto the wreath. I used 2-3 pins per pom pom to make sure they stayed.

IMG_1713

IMG_1715

It took about 16 pom poms to cover the top. 14 for the middle and 18 for the outside. Yes, this project is a little tedious, but it was pretty easy and the result is great!

Wool Wreath

Notice those trees? I’ll show you how I DIYed those tomorrow!

What do you think? If any of you attempt this project I’d love to see it!
