Celebrating Patriotic Style

3 Jul

I’m feeling patriotic today considering it is the 4th of July tomorrow. I sharing some beautifully designed spaces that feature red, white and blue. Red, white, and blue can sometimes be a bit too much, but these spaces do it right. They use the classic color palette in an updated way.

I love the beautiful blue tufted headboard. The dressers as side tables offer great storage and a vintage feel. The accessories feel collected. To get a more vintage feel collect pieces over time from different retail and antique stores.

Home Tour: New York Home Makeover

5 Aug

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend! Today I am sharing a beautiful New York home makeover. When Hurricane Sandy hit the east coast last year Country Living decided to make their house of the year a bungalow in Breezy Point, New York that was damaged in the hurricane. They enlisted designer Emily Henderson to help restore and renovate the home. I love the nautical sea-inspired decor and think you will too. Take a look!

This bungalow is relaxed and homey. The overall feel of this home is airy and bright. I love the shades of blue and white used throughout the home. One of my favorite elements is the beautiful tile used in the bathroom. Which is your favorite space?

All Lacquered Up

25 Jun

Lacquered walls have been popular for quite some time. I happen to love the drama they add to any space and every time I see a lacquered space I have to take a moment to take it all in. Lacquered walls are great for small spaces because you can get away with using darker more dramatic colors. Do you love lacquered spaces too?

Designer Spotlight: Summer Thornton

17 Jun

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Today I am introducing you to Chicago based interior designer Summer Thornton. After working at a high-end European textile company and under several other interior designers, Summer opened her firm in 2007. Summer Thornton blends texture, color and pattern to create smart and soulful surroundings all within her design philosophy of unpretentious, fun, and fresh. Summer’s interiors are traditional but injected with personality and energy. I love her bold designs and know you will too! Take a look.
