Good morning! In our new home my husband and I have a dedicated office which is quite a luxury for us. As of right now it is two separate small desks that don’t exactly match. I am really looking forward to creating a shared office space that is functional, but also that looks way better than what we are dealing with now. I’m thinking a large vintage inspired rug (as I mentioned last week I am kinda obsessed) and a long white desk. I am also hoping to replace the dim ceiling fan with a fabulous fixture. Here is where I am getting some of my inspiration.
Since I primarily work from home having a workspace is very important. I don’t have much space, but I make the most of it. Whether you have the luxury of having an entire room devoted to being an office or a small corner having a spot that inspires you to get your job done is super important. Adding stylish organization, color, inspiration boards, etc. are all elements that can make the perfect home office space.
I will be the first to admit I am OBSESSED with polka dots. Now there is a new spotty trend I am in love with. These spots are more irregular than a perfect polka dot. Some call it a dalmatian print (but I guess that depends who you ask.) Have you been seeing this spotty trend everywhere too? Here are some of my favorite spotted spaces.
Here’s how you can bring this trend into your home and closet.
How do you feel about this spotted trend? I’m dying to add some spots into my space.
Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a great weekend. Sorry I was MIA yesterday. My sister was in town all weekend and I needed a day to catch up. I finally took some time to photograph my new desk I talked about a few weeks ago. I mentioned I had limited space so I am very happy with the size of this desk. I am thrilled with how it turned out.
My desk is from the Target Threshold collection. I chose this one not only because I wanted a simple white desk, but the size was perfect at 34″ wide.
I chose brass and clear accessories because I wanted a modern, clean, and simple workspace. I think I achieved it!
I love my Kate Spade paperweight. It adds a pop of color and whimsy to my desk.
I framed 2 of my favorite inspirational quotes
“What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail.”
“Creativity is intelligence having fun.”
I wanted a bulletin board for inspirational images or other notes. I found this Nate Berkus one at Target and love it!
I also shared my love for flamingos, so I included a colorful print to tie everything together.
I wanted to create a chic workspace without breaking the bank. Here is the breakdown of everything I bought:
Threshold Desk $85
Brass lamp from Lowe’s $21.97
Black dish from World Market (similar) $1.99
Clear Tray from The Container Store $7.99
Gold Pencil Cup from Target $4.99
Nate Berkus Cork Board $12.99
3 frames from Michael’s $25.00
Kate Spade Paperweight $21.99 (on sale)
I am so happy to get this project done under $200. I eventually will replace my old Ikea desk chair with a new one, but it is not urgent. In the meantime if I have time to make a trip out to Ikea I may drape a sheepskin over the existing chair. What do you think??
Hope you have a great day!
So I have mentioned before that my husband and I have a desk in the bedroom. He uses it for his desktop so that leaves very little space for me to work. I often resort to the coffee table or kitchen table, definitely not an ideal situation! We have limited space for another desk, but I found the perfect spot. I knew I wanted a white desk and I knew I wanted it to be very simple so I could style it however I wanted. I also knew I didn’t want to spend a lot because when we move to a larger space (hopefully next year) I want to be able to replace it without feeling guilty about it. So, I searched around and found the PERFECT simple white desk from the Threshold collection at Target. Unfortunately, it is not sold in stores, but the price was right so I hope it lives up to the picture. (It should be arriving today!) I have been thinking about how I want to design my workspace from the accessories on the desk to what kind of art I want on the wall above it. Here is the desk I picked out.
I love it! I am thinking of changing the drawer hardware to a brass pull so I can have brass or gold accents. I have found a lot of great inspirational images of white desks to get my juices flowing. Here are some of my favorites. I would love to hear your input as well!
I found a great brass desk lamp and now I just need to get a few more accessories to get my workspace up and running. I think I am going to print and frame a few of my favorite inspirational quotes from my pinterest board and create a mini gallery wall above the desk. If you have any great quotes to share I’d love to hear them! I am so excited to have a place to call my own. I look forward to sharing the finished space with you!
Many of us have desks in the bedroom myself included. My husband currently has his desk set up in the bedroom and it is in desperate need of an update so hopefully one day we can both work at it. So I have been gathering inspiration from beautiful bedrooms with workspaces built in. Do any of you have desks in your bedroom?
Some of these desks double as a nightstand which I think is a great idea. I don’t think it would be too practical for us, but I love the look!
There is nothing like a well styled bookcase. Whether you style your books vertically, horizontally, stacked, by color, etc. You can break up all the vertical and horizontal lines by dressing up your bookcases with art. You can style your books with accessories and then hang your fave art pieces right there on the shelves! Take a look to see what I mean. I think you will all be convinced this is a great idea!
Great idea right? I love the collected feel the artwork adds to these bookcases. Would you ever add artwork to your bookcases or have you already?
