Bookcase Styling

16 Jul

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! Today I am going to be showing you some great ways to style a bookcase. It is so easy to clutter up your shelves with too many books, objects, etc which end up being more of any eyesore than a focal point. I have gathered a few photos to give you some inspiration and tips to help you style your own bookcase. I have also created style boards with great pieces to spruce up your shelves.

Alternate the direction of your books and stagger the heights when standing them upright. Add a decorative object on top of your stacks for extra personality and interest.

Lean framed artwork and/or photographs against the back.

Add a variety of different types of objects in varying sizes.

Keep it simple. Don’t add too much to each shelf. Keeping like colors of books together creates a cohesive look.

You don’t need to have books on every shelf. Adding a variety of objects keeps it interesting.

Here is a picture of my own bookcase:

Adding in decorative objects as seen here adds a lot of interest to your bookcase. If the accessory is small add it on top of stacked books.

Adding in decorative boxes or trays is a good way to take up space on a shelf without cluttering it. Books with colorful covers (which also happen to be great books for reference) are important to creating a well balanced bookcase.

Don’t forget to enter into the E-Design giveaway!! I am giving away 2 designs to 2 lucky followers. We will work together to determine your style and needs. I will create a style board with a complete list of all items needed to complete the look! To find out more read my post about the giveaway!

Have a great day!
