Mad About Malachite

I absolutely love natural stones especially when used in design and fashion. Malachite is a gorgeous rich green color that looks so amazing when used in design. You can find malachite interpreted in fabrics, china, wallpaper, and of course in the natural stone. Here are some rooms that use malachite in gorgeous ways.

Chew on This: Blueberry Scones

24 Apr

Happy Tuesday everyone!! Today instead of showing some designs I am going to share a super yummy recipe with you. I love scones so I found a recipe via Martha Stewart for Blueberry Scones. I changed it up a little as I often do with recipes. So here is the recipe and some pictures of the steps and finished product. Enjoy!

2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar, plus more for sprinkling tops
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries, picked over and rinsed
1/3 cup heavy cream, plus more for brushing tops
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
In a large bowl, sift together flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter mixing lightly until mixture is coarse and crumb-like.  Stir in blueberries.
Using a fork, whisk together cream and egg in a liquid measuring cup. Make a well in the center of dry ingredients, and pour in cream mixture. Stir lightly until dough comes together. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead a few times to mix well.
Pat dough into a 6-inch square about 1 inch thick. Using a floured knife, cut into four squares then into triangles. Transfer to baking sheet. Brush tops with cream, and sprinkle with sugar. Bake until golden brown, 20 to 22 minutes. Transfer scones to wire racks to cool.
They are so yummy! Enjoy!!

Wallpapered Bathroom

Wallpaper used in a bathroom adds character and personality. I love the idea of bold geometric patterns or colors used in the bathroom. Take a look at these fabulous examples.

House Tour: Sabrina Soto

17 Apr

Sabrina Soto is an amazing designer you can find on multiple shows on HGTV. I love her style and her budget friendly ideas. Not only is she a designer, but she is also Target’s Style Expert. Sabrina mixes vintage, antique, and great Target finds for a unique look. I am going to show you pictures of her New York penthouse apartment. I think you are going to love it as much as I do!

Love that garden wall! The planters are removable.

With these wonderful views of Central Park the minimal furniture doesn’t take away from that.

I love this custom made steel coffee table.

I love this storage idea. It is a creative and organized way to keep all your supplies in one area.

She uses a faux chandelier above the bed to give the elegant look, but she didn’t need the extra light.

Sabrina drilled holes into craft wood to accommodate her makeup brushes. Such a great idea!

Hope you enjoyed the tour! Have a great day!

Color Blocking

16 Apr

Color blocking is a huge trend in both fashion and interiors. The vibrant colors create happy spaces. I am a huge fan of color and using them in new and creative ways. By mixing the bright colors with neutrals balances the space out. Bold colors catch the eye, but the neutrals ground the space. Each of the designs I am showing you do just that.
