2012 Color Trends

17 Feb

A few months ago Pantone revealed their 2012 color of the year and it is Tangerine Tango. This vibrant red orange color has been a big trend in not only fashion, but interior design as well. The color has been described as “vivacious” and “enticing” that will uplift people’s moods. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Pantone they are the leading authority on color. They forecast the upcoming color trends in fashion and design. They just recently came out with the color trends for Fall 2012 just in time for fashion week. So, I thought it would be fun to take a look at how these amazing colors are being translated into interior design. I will highlight a few colors each day, but today I will just focus on the color of the year Tangerine Tango.

I think this color is so vibrant and usable in interiors. If you want a bold statement this full wall treatment of color is for you. I think this is great balanced with the pale trim and warm wood tone. This color will wake up your space and can easily be coordinated with other colors. Tangerine Tango is a great alternative to red if you want something a little different.

This kitchen uses Tangerine Tango as the perfect accent color. The chandeliers and chairs pop off of the black and white color palette. The green adds balance to the bright white and tangerine.

This bedroom is so eye catching. The tangerine wall behind the bed is balanced nicely with the white headboard. I love the pop of color. The light blue panels beside the bed are also a nice touch to calm this bright color. Would you ever paint this color in your bedroom? I think it looks great!

I love this gallery wall. This is a toned down version of tangerine. Painting frames of all different shapes and sizes is so easy to do. It adds a great focal point and looks so awesome. I want to recreate this in my home.

If you don’t like the idea of painting a room in the tangerine color adding accents is a great way transform your space. I love the bedside table. The use of tangerine and turquoise is a wonderful modern color palette. If you are still finding this color a little loud pairing it with neutrals will help mellow it out and create a great balance.

Here are some great accessories to add the perfect pop of Tangerine Tango to your space:
